This year will mark India’s 72th republic day. India was invaded by British and was ruled for 200 years. Then came Indian Independence movement which laid the foundation of Indian freedom.
Republic day is celebrated in India every year on 26th January, since 1950 to honor the date on which Indian constitution came into effect. Hindi was declared the national language in 1965 on this day of history.
Under the guidance of Dr. B R Ambedkar, the new constitution was laid after attaining Independence from British rule. This date was chosen because, the Indian National Congress declared Purna Swaraj on 26th January 1930, the declaration of India’s independence from the British rule.
Breath taking parades at New Delhi, consist of Indian Army and national flag hoisting in various parts of the country are common practices followed on this day.
